As a Data Specialist within the HOPE Center at the Georgia Department of Public Health, you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways.

Job Responsibilities

Under general supervision, performs a wide range of office administration duties for assigned functions or program areas, duties may be complex in nature and may involve access to confidential information. May research, investigate, and/or resolve program data or issues. Drafts documentation, reports, or presentations. Represents program or unit, provides information and assistance to internal and external customers.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Maintains database by entering new and updated customer and account information with accuracy.
  • Processes customer and account source documents by reviewing data for deficiencies.
  • Resolves deficiencies by using standard procedures or returning incomplete documents to the team leader for resolution.
  • Maintains data entry requirements by following data program techniques and procedures.
  • Verifies entered customer and account data by reviewing, correcting, or reentering data.
  • Maintains program statistics to assess progress towards grant required performance measures.
  • Maintains customer confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential, at all times.
  • Supports team goals by assisting where needed.
  • Provides support to department manager in running data reports, keeping meeting minutes, and preparing for meetings and presentations.
  • Utilizes Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel, to assist in completing reports and documentation.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate's degree from an accredited college AND One year of related experience
OR
Three years of related experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in data entry and database systems, including electronic medical records systems, and strong attention to detail.

The use of wellness breaks during the workday is authorized to support this philosophy and assist employees in meeting their wellness goals. A maximum of 30 minutes in a given workday may be used to engage in wellness activities, generally in the form of two 15-minute breaks or one 30-minute break.

DPH accepts educational credentials recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the US Department of Education (DOE). DPH will contact educational institutions to verify degree, diploma, licensure, etc.
